Unibox App Reviews

Worked for about 10 minutes...

Unibox installed quickly and easily, no problems there. Then after about 10 minutes it showed zero messages anywhere! At first I was a bit concerned but closing Unibox and opening Mac Mail showed my messages still intact. I tried Unibox again and still showed zero in any folder no matter what I searched for or even just tried to view. I tried the resych as recommended by the FAQs but still it shows no messages no matter what I have tried. Tried to delete and reinstall the account info and, although it did autodetect the account settings again, still no messages. That was enough for me. $20 wasted.

It’s not all that

This app hasn’t seen any important updates in a long time. There’s still no offline support, something unthinkable for a modern email program. Often, embedded images don’t show up and the developer doesn’t know why. I also have had a slew of mysteriously disappearing emails ever since I started using this program, and I am tending to blame it on Unibox. Messages that were moved into the Archive can no longer be found using the search bar, yet Gmail is able to locate them; so there’s definitely something screwy going on during archiving. I often have to use Gmail’s web app to find messages that I know should be there. I am willing to wait for the next major update to this app, but if these problems persist, I am done with it.

Sweet!

This program is really sweet. I love it so far. I had a question and emailed the company. Got a personal response within a few hours. Could not ask for more service. Interface is so easy and intuitive. This is a great email alternatve to Apple Mail.

A 5 Stars Mail Client, but I’m Going to Give it 3 Stars for not Supporting More Languages

This mail client can easly receive 5 stars. It’s fast, organized, elegant, and easy to use. Most of all, it WORKS well. It rarely if ever crashes. That’s UNHEARD of, especially when compared to Outlook. However, the talented developers of this amazing MUST understand that there are people who speaks languages other than English who DO exsist. Please add support to languages such as Arabic, Hebrow, Thai, Korean, etc.

Awesome app with people-centric organization (like Facebook Messenger)

See a list of contacts ordered by most recent interaction, click one to see all the email that’s been exchanged. Magic! This is the same way Facebook Messenger works and I really like the people-centric approach. Who thought of it first? hmmm, wish I knew, it’s a very natural way to think about correspondence. The UI is very clean and minimalistic…. a very nice feel on my mac. It was annoying while ascending the learning curve but I’m willing to put in some effort when there is tangible reward. Unibox is GREAT for cleanup... when I delete the latest advertisement from Banana Republic I choose to delete ALL of them. My inbox is slowly getting cleaned up as I go about handling new email. Keep it up!

So-so

This is actually an excellent email app. I only have one gripe and that is the lack of an address book. This makes forwarding emails very inconvenient. If I forget a recipient that’s it. I need an email list on the sidebar so I can see to whom I forward emails. Until than I’m staying with Postbox.

5 Stars - Apps don’t get better than this!

This is now my only email client! I wish they had an iphone app. Everything is flawless in my eyes. Great job guys!

Everything I want. Nothing I don’t.

Think of how much email you process on a daily basis. I’m willing to shell out a little cash to make this daily routine a little easier..better…simpler. And Unibox does just that. It might be a BIT pricey, but having used it now for several months, I can honestly say that not only am I NOT here searching for a replacement, but I’m actually writting a review (of my own freewill!) to encourage YOU to give it a go! I love the minimalistic approach to the interface, and the ease of threaded conversations. I will say a couple times the minimal aesthetic has caused me to scratch-my-head on where to find a particular function, but in both cases an email to the developer has resulted in a QUICK response and the answer to my issue. …money well spent.

Great App, Even Better Customer Service

I bought this a bit apprehensively, and didn’t know quite what to expect. I am extremely happy with my decision!! This app has helped me get my gmail account under control. I had 7,000 emails, and had saved the ones I needed and deleated all the ones I didn’t after about twenty minutes. I like the feel this app has. Its a lot like text messages or messenger on apple products. Very clean, and very powerful. Two thumbs up. However the story takes a turn… After using the app for several weeks, it stopped updating. Confused, I began just using the gmail web client becasue I didn’t want to deal with it. Eventually I missed Unibox so much, I emailed them at 11pm asking for help. I was helped by 8am the next day by someone with patience and technical know how. Nobody has that good of service. Thanks Unibox! And of course…I recommend this product.

Best Email Client Ever ...

I have bought and tested all mac email clients and this is the best of the best.

I kind of like this app, but...

I was a little tired of the Mail App that comes with the computer. But I don’t feel that paying $20 for an App is worth the cost. However I do like that it shows me the day when the email was recieved but that somes it up. I can’t find my flagged emails which is important to me. It’s hard to make a signature (which isn’t important but it is to me). But visually it’s good to look at just for me some of the things that doesn’t work for me is what this app is lacking.

Slowness is a deal breaker

I really liked this app when I first got it. Finding emails has never been easier. It’s clean, simple, intuitive. But as time went by it started to get slower and slower — processing incoming emails would send out the spinning beachball for sometimes up to 30 seconds. That meant, as emails are always coming in, I could barely compose, read, download or send without constant interruption. I downloaded every update, every beta, and worked with the very responsive Customer Service, but ultimately, I just had to give up. If you get a lot of emails (as I do) this may happen to you and you may find yourself pulling your hair out. I really want to use this app, but it started to really impact my productivity, and so, sadly, I am going to stop using it. If anyone knows how to beat this issue, I’m all ears. But until it gets faster on processing, it’s just too much time with the evil beachball and the constant interruptions to my flow of writing to enjoy.

Used to be great, but now completely unreliable

I love the way Unibox organizes e-mails by the sender, but now it is pretty much completely unusable for these reasons: 1. Extremely slow, and sometimes e-mails don’t even load. 2. Occassionally, messages that have already been read or marked as read inexplicably pop up again as unread. 3. Power usage has gone out of control. Energy Impact and CPU usage hover well over the century mark, causing the fan to go howling at 6,500 RPM. Until Unibox fixes the issues, I cannot recommend it.

WOW!! About time a company reimagined email!

I have disliked email for years, but now that I have Unibox I actually enjoy it again. Not only is the funtionality there but the design is fantastic too! Usually apps have great designers or great programmers. Both is a real treat. WELL WORTH THE $ I PAID FOR THIS APP!! Didn’t even wait until the trial ran out. Would love to see this app go mobile too! UPDATE (12-5-15): Have to swtich to another app until there is better signature support. Even the latest beta of the app doesn’t have proper HTML signature support. Everything else is great. No issues with slowdown like I’ve read in the recent reviews.

I like th UI

it had some bugs just after I got it,e.g,can’t add account ,can’t sync from server. but now it works fine,I really like it

Great email app

Took a little getting use to contact centric approach as opposed to standard email clients. But now I love it! Not sure why a few reviews indicate trouble with signatures. Easy to create graphic signature in pages, select all, copy and paste into Unibox. Just make sure you select “custom” radio button in signature section of preferences. And finally Unibox for iOS. Beautiful interface on iPhone, very intuitive. Great swipe actions. Only thing missing for Mac app is ability to select multiple emails (for moving or deleting). Customer service is fantastic and incredibly quick response time. Keep up the great work Unibox!

Editor is terrible and not-configurable

Used it for 30 seconds realized that the editor was terrible and not configurable. The idea is interesting, and pretty clean setup. But unless youre looking for a hangouts style email interface this may not be for you.

Best 3rd-party Mac email application, BAR NONE!

The idea is simple, keep emails organized in threads according to contacts or email addresses, rather than by the date and time they arrive in your inbox. Unibox is one of the few applications that I use INSTEAD of the native Mac application that it’s supposed to suppliment or replace. Unibox is the best thing to happen to my email accounts in FOREVER!!! Buy Unibox, you will not regret it. You’ll love it!

Font size CANNOT be changed

There is a shortage of quality mail clients for the Mac. The usual suspects stumble from version to version. Despite its many adavntages over the competition, Unibox does not allow you to change the font size. This is a showstopping lack unless you work only with a Retina displays. Granted, this problem is augmented by Apples reluctance to help non-Retina Mac owners. But an email client that does not allow you to change font size....come on! Pay for it, and double your pain!

Best email client, period.

I’ve been using Unibox for at least a year on my Mac and just recently on my iPhone and iPad Pro. It’s by far the best mail client out there. The features are stellar. The learning curve is a bit rough beacuse you have to retrain your brain to understand grouping your email by sender rather than subject threads, but once you figure that out, it makes so much more sense. And being able to quickly reference any attachment a person has sent you is so helpful. I own a marketing/branding agency and easily can go through hundreds of emails in a day and the features of Unibox make the whole process so much smoother and less painless than any other app I’ve used. Purchase it, and you won’t regret it!
