Unibox App Reviews

Clean & Beautiful — needs to support Exchange server natively

The Unibox interface is refreshing, simple and very easy to use. It will very likely become my default mail client, but not until Exchange is supported. The application needs to support Exchange natively (not only via IMAP), and I would prefer a few more preference options to customize what is displayed by default. For example, although it is easy to see when there are multiple recipients, I cannot have the recipients displayed by default, and have to click an icon for every message.

Try their 15 days trial first.

Looks promising but does not sync with Yahoo.ca account. The same story as described by slafrenaye.

Revelatory

What an amazing way to organize email! A beautiful and thoughful approach to cleaning up the clutter of large email databases into smart and intuitive “conversations” that you have with the people you’re emailing with. I’ve tried using traditional style email programs after using Unibox to compare, and others feel antiquated and sloppy next to it. Thank you eightloops!!!!

The Best

Unibox is the best thing since Sparrow. The first 15 mins I tried it I was confused and wasnt sure if I would like it. The next day I tried it again and got used to its new and creative way of doing email. Unibox is focused on people and the conversations you have with them. Its the only email client that works with similar principles as a chat app or Messages. It might sound and look like a light weight email client but it’s not at all. It’s UI is distraction free allowing you to focus on the people that sent you emails. All emails are sorted by people, and then each conversation you have with them is sorted by the most recent. Because of this new approach my emails get done faster and more efficiently. I now tell everyone about Unibox and I help spread the word!!!

Best of the pack

Now that a third party email app is a requirement for many Yosemite users, I was happy to have access to this app. I have tried others and even though the price is a bit high it is worth it to have a clean, seamless, reliable email app for Yosemite machines. Plus this app is the only paradigm buster by grouping your email by contacts. Tried AirMail 2.0 and had a few glitches which allowed me to see that they have no support for their product

slow app

The idea is great but the app is slow! (I’m using a MacBook Pro 16GB, SSD, i7.) Furthermore no updates since Sept 30, 2014 which is for a relatively new app too long. There should be more releases!

Great support

I had an issue with two of my email accounts disappearing for a few days (turns out it was a certification issue), so support got back to me really quickly and helped me solve the problem. I love having all my email in one place sorted by sender/recipient - it makes sorting through emails so much easier and I dont get a backlog of unread emails ever now.

Many bugs

I bought this app since it had good comments. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with its performance, especially considering the high price point. It reagularly struggles to connect to my email accounts, not to mention that most of the ”person’s icons” remain blank, therefore making this system worthless. Yesterday, it just stopped working and a message poped-up saying I had to delete the program and install it again. That was enough for me. Let’s just say that if you have 23$ bucks to throw away, I would give it to charity instead of buying this app. That would be more useful. Good idea but weak execution.

Love It

Great app. I love the simplicity and layout. My favourite mail app.

Recommended

I like how it groups e-mail and attachments by sender.

Please support notification in the menu bar

Request: 1. menu bar notification 2. Unibox configuration (any folders) 3. Easy account switch using icons

素晴らしい

The concept of this application is just great! A revolution in the way I manage my email.

only support IMAP protocol

No SMTP support, no Exchange support, only IMAP can be use, WTF!

Great but...

As someone already mentioned – great app but it makes my MBP 13” early 2011 burn. CPU is getting really hot (94*C~200*F). Also uses quite a lot bandwith and it’s sluggish when refreshing IMAP folder. It can take minutes before emails are sychnronised again. It looks like Unibox was trying get all the mails to local cache again despite it has been done days before. You should do something with it.

Almost perfect!

Really very good app! I’ve tried many and this in one of the best - quick, intelligent and… has really BEAUTIFUL interface! Works smoothly with many accounts and with hundreds emails daily… I strongly recommend it!

Dreamed for this at least for 10 years! Greatest app I’ve ever bought!

This is just perfect application. It has some obvious features to-be, but even in it’s first version it’s doing quite good. It’s beautiful, it’s very usable and it’s cost each cent of its price!

Awesome

Great app. More shortcuts will be useful. For example: Cmd+Enter – send current message Cmd+[1-9] - switch Inbox/Sent/Archive etc.

сыро

Приложение слишком сырое: на больших аккаунтах подтормаживает, подглючивает, недоделки тут и там. Купил, чтобы поддержать авторов (задумка-то интересная). Although I like the main idea very much, the application is currently way too buggy and featureless to be called a production release. I paid to support your efforts, but please please work on the quality and speed. For instance, the following becomes obvious immediately after installation: - I added my work account (I think its less than 10K emails), its been like 40 minutes already and its still taking 30-80% CPU for downloading/indexing (?) data. Theres no indication on what the app is doing so I cant even tell. - The narrow font doesnt work with non-English glyphs (namely, with Cyrillic letters). Even when after I disabled the narrow font, the fonts get messed up from time to time, becoming partly bold, party narrow (it seems to have fixed itself after restarting the app though). - Scrolling in the search results is choppy. - There is no way to switch incoming message encoding and/or view message source. I could live with the issues above (I belive they will be addressed sooner or later), but the lack of the following features is the deal breaker for me: - There is no way to switch between accounts in one click (its currently a matter of 3 clicks). I do NOT want to mix my work emails with my personal emails. I need to see the list of (clickable) accounts and the number of unread messages for each account. Other email clients get it right. - The "Unibox" folder doesnt include messages from folders other than INBOX and Sent Messages. Thats a huge misconception. I have server-side rules to sort most of incoming mail into folders. Maybe in future I will decide to drop all this in favor of Unibox, but at least for the transition period I need Unibox to pick ALL mail from ALL folders.

Best app post

Really convenient and understandable. Now find the conversation easier. Looking forward to the mobile version.

There’s an issue with 1.2.1

After upgrading to 1.2.1 Unibox fails to load up. The icon jumps for 2 minutes in the dock and nothing happens. Please resolve. Got used to this app but may be obliged to move to another mail client. ______ Surprisingly, after several attempts Unibox finally got loaded.
