Unibox App Reviews

Thinking outside of the “mailbox"

Might be a bit expensing, but this is the best spend money for an app. The interface is simple, lightweight and stylish yet extremely functional. The contact-centric style of this app takes the whole email principle and brilliantly turns it 180. If you are tired of working in the same old “inefficient" way provided by “all" the other mailer apps, you MUST try this app. This app (v1.0) is still in its infancy so you can’t expect all features you would find in others but in the end, it has some of the best features never made before (attachement view). I still does crash from time to time (rarely) but nothing a good bugfix can’t handle down the line. One thing that I would be looking forward too in the future would be an iOS version of this app.

Brilliant!

Way better than most and just so much more simpler and polished to work with. Plus email support is great, giving you a feeling the dev’s really care for their product. Well done, love it.

Sleek and reliable

I really like the interface. Unibox has some capabilities that took me awhile to discover, maybe because it’s a very compact design. Anyway, I would definitely recommend it. I bought it because I had trouble with Mail’s performance and Unibox has picked up and carried on in a way that I really trust it. In addition, you get great personal support when you ask for it.

best email app!

this is the best email app out there, specially for people who running projects and doing colabboration with different groups… it will help to follow each discussion easily…...

Love IT!!

I’ve used the Apple Mail.app for many years and just recently looked around to see what’s new in the Mail client world :) Initially as I have about 30,000 emails across 6 email accounts the Unibox started seemingly slow but I didn’t realize it had to index the entire repository of emails I had in my 6 mail accounts :) Brought it up with Unibox support who were excellent and confirmed that this was why it seemed slow at first. After its initial indexing process the app is now very quick to use with no noticeable delays and is an ABSOLUTE joy to use! Highly recommended over the standard Apple Mail.app and I absolutely love the change in organization to emails. Great job guys!! P.S. Add that indexing indicator now would ya? ;) Cheers -

Really a new way to organize emails

Think about it if you want to find previous emails of a person. What would you do in Gmail and Mail.app? Search in keywords. At this moment, if you want to find another previous email related to this person, then you need to search it in the waiting list. But in this Unibox, you can scan all of emails of this person in just a single window. All of the historical emails with this person! With Unibox, you can easily get: A long discussion of a project lasting for more than months; Review conversations between you and your best friends with all historical emails, photos, and other attachments. Sometimes you just feel time flies and many memories can be re-found using Unibox.

Great overall … but

Its a great app. It really is … but for one or two things that irk me to the point of rarely using it. Eg. When you reply to all, you can see that there are a bunch of additional recipients …. but there is no way to find out who they are?! So you don’t know if you’re sending to someone you shouldn’t be. So I have to start a new message and a new thread. But the UI is enjoyable to use and the performace is fast.

Save your money

You cannot instal more than 1 email address , yahoo does’t work and no help from customer service Avoid !!!

Wonderful concept for a mail program!!

I was looking for an alternate to Apple’s mail app because of some issues that I was having, and came across Unibox. I was a bit uncertain about how it would fare but after using the trial version for a few days, I was convinced and made the purchase. The concept for orgainizing emails really is wonderful and the benefits become apparent almost immediately! Given how “new” this application is, it is very polished and has some clever features beyond the basic concepts that it is built upon. Some of these are not obvious at first and there isn’t mujch in the way of documentation to help you find them. To Makepies, who commented on 12 June that he couldn’t see the list of people in a reply all situation: you can, but in keeping with the uncluttered intent of the UI, the list of recipients is normally hidden. Click on the icon just to the left of the subject line and voilà, there it is; click again and it’s gone. Simple and elegant! And to 416sergio who commented, also on 12 June, that he couldn’t install more than 1 email address and that yahoo doesn’t work: not true. I currently have 6 accounts configured, 4 of them are Yahoo. I used manual account setup and found it to work quite well. I have no issue with the price for this app. Sure, it’s not in the low-cost category, but it’s also not in the high-cost category and is well worth the money: if in doubt, start with the trial version. I too am looking forward to an iOS version!!

Great but….!

It is indeed a great app but it would be great to have a way to collapse the days just so it would look cleaner and more organized. I do not need to see past days… only current day.

Email reinvented!

This app is AMAZING, it’s worth every penny and more! Over the past 17 year, I’ve been through many email programs: Netscape Mail and Newsgroups, Outlook Express, Opera, Pegasus, IncrediMail, Thunderbird, Outlook (still using it for work), Postbox, Sparrow and Apple Mail. They all have their pros and cons… the last 3 were the best ones, but none of them really changed the way we do email. Unibox is truly innovative and different. It made me rethink my email processing rules (now I use way less folders). It’s perfect for personal email (one to one conversations); it can handle group threads too but its focus is really contact oriented. Unibox also made me hate using my iPad bc I have to go back to Mail… I can’t wait for their iOS version!!! (it’s in the works)

Love it!!

They really nailed this. The first mail client I’ve tried that successfully gets a contacts-centric view right. So many others have failed because they made it too complicated. The simplicity in Unibox’s design is the key. The overall UX is really attractive and approachable and a joy to use. Setup was really slick. It autodetected all my accounts and handled two-factor authentication successfully. I look forward to the continuing evolution of this great app. Goodbye Airmail, Postbox, Mail and everything else.

Best Mail App Yet

This mail client does exactly what I want it to - it keeps what’s relevant in front of me (letting me decide what’s relevant). While it doesn’t have push support for Exchange based accounts, IMAP in it seems pretty solid - and I guess I can go a few minutes waitng for an email (if I don’t bother to hit refresh). If someone needs me that badly they’ll text me.

Absolutely fantastic!

Person-centric email is the best way to deal with email effectively, and Unibox nails it! Can’t wait for the iOS app!

Revolutionary

Unibox is the first app which truly rethinks how we handle email and the contact-centric approach it uses is both racially different and surprisingly comfortable. The fit-and-finish is excellent, finally something with the right balance of power and simplicity to be a viable successor to Sparrow. Highly recommended!

Loving this App

Full disclosure, I am an email app junkie. Not in an, I gotta get a new app before breakfast or I will get the DT’s kind of way. But I have never found an email app that hit all of my buttons of usability, intuitive interface, handles multiple accounts and lets me forward an email received in one account using a different account without having to send it to myself. One that handles archiving in different folders well, star messages and groups my conversations in an easy to view manner. Unibox may just be The One! It says it is people centric. gotta admit I did not fully appreciate what that meant. Surprised to see that my email Inbox is still sorted by Date and time received, follwed by the names of the senders. But when you hit the senders name, things get interesting. Every email that you have received from that address is available to you in linear fashion. Just scroll down and you will see the most recent emails which may help to refresh your memory about the topic under discussion. Scroll further down and you will see that the email that your brother sent you promising to return your ladder in the Fall of 2012 is still there, cluttering your Inbox. It takes a few days to get used to, but every day I love this App more. It may just be The One. If they make one for iOS I will line up to buy it. I highly recommend this App if Mail, Airmail, various flavours of Gmail, Mail Pilot and others just don’t quite light up your board. Happy Trails

Very nice approach

At first I wasn’t impressed but then I realized how easy it was to track communications with people. It has preconfigured all email with filter through contact so when you click a user on left it gives you all the communnication with that person. Today I sat and re-discovered my really old communications that were burried , this email client helps resurface them and extra easy access. You can add multi email accounts. Will it be my main email client? tbh I am not sure yet. Yosemite Apple Mail client seems really robust and has smart folders. mm I got to try that first.

Really solid app

I wasn’t sure if Unibox’s contact-centric approach would work for me. I use the ‘inbox zero’ approach to email i.e. I archive everything that’s been dealt with and my inbox serves as my list of items that need attention. Unibox handles this workflow beautifully (you just need to disable the Unibox group and use Inbox as the default). IMAP syncing is quicker than any other OS X mail app I’ve used (and I’ve tried them all in recent months. Even Mail.app on Yosemite is slow) In short a beautiful and stable mail app that does the basics really, really well.

This is it !

I tried them all… litteraly ! Unibox will be my default email client for a long time. Still a few things to fix nonetheless… - Going from account to account without the use of a dropdown menu (like Airmail, maybe) - Starting a message from the account you’re in… with the right signature, not from a default account Despite this, I stick to it… it is so intuitive and sleek !

Cannot Retreive Yahoo Mail

I’ve purchase this sotware after reading all the great reviews about it. I like to try almost every email software so that i can make my own mind. Unibox is offering a clean user interface that is fun and easy to use. But what is the point of buying an email program if you cannot retreive your emails with it on particular host. That is the main problem that i am having with this software. I do have a Yahoo.ca email and once programmed it will give me an error code ‘IMAPResponseErrorDomain 2200’ and will not retreive my emails. I’ve wrote the developer and all he was able to say was ‘please call Yahoo since this is a server level error’. The problem is that i am also using these other email programs WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM WITH YAHOO - Mac Mail, Postbox, ArMail 2 and Mail Pilot (i’ve told you i’ve tries all of them...). So if this was indeed a bug at Yahoo, i would face the same situation using these other email client. But with all these programs i can retreive my Yahoo emails without any problem. Only Unibox doesnt work with Yahoo. Also note these other missing point with this software: - Hard to style our reply. - Cannot add any reminders or action on emails.
