Unibox App Reviews

Email reinvented… magnificently.

I can’t praise Unibox enough. It is by far the best new concept in email management I have ever seen. I started with Pine in 1992, then to Eudora in 1993, Outlook in 1998, Gmail in 2004, and now Unibox in 2016. How is Unibox different? Unibox is all about simplicity and helping you avoid information overload. In short, it displays your inbox by: (1) the name of the sender and (2) in chronological order. No subjects are displayed in the main view, period. The sender’s name is never displayed more than once in the chronological listing. Unibox groups all emails from the sender into one beautifully presented thread. Email subjects are not visible until you click the sender’s name to open the email (or thread, if the sender has ever emailed you before). Conveniently, you are (by default) presented with your entire email history with that sender in chronological order. One click will show you every attachment that sender has ever sent you, easily sortable by file type (in list view mode, or in a resizable thumbnail view mode). Who wants to look at a huge mess of email subjects when opening up your email client? What tends to matter most in email is the *sender* — and, secondarily, the subject — and Unibox has cleverly mastered this point. Managing your inbox with Unibox is a breeze and, to some degree, a pleasure. For example, have you received hundreds of transactional emails or newsletters from various senders over the years -- iTunes newsletters, perhaps? In two simple clicks on the sender’s name, you can Archive or Delete one or all of those emails. I suffered from e-mail overload from three different accounts for years. Unibox has helped master my email once again. Gone are the days of being overwhelmed by too many emails. This app was well worth the $16 I paid for it. One word of caution: Some other reviewers of this app were frustrated with Unibox because, I believe, they did not realize that the initial sync of all your emails and attachments details will take 1-3 days to sync fully. (In my case, I had about 300,000 emails in 26 gigabytes spanning 3 separate Gmail accounts. Unibox handled the import of the data with ease over about 2-3 days.) The full power of Unibox’s search capabilities and attachment view modes may not be completely apparent to you until the initial sync has completed, but it will be reasonably functional before that time.

Could Be Better

Overall the app works pretty well. I feel the looks of the app isn’t as clean and sleek as I would like. I’m a clean lines kind of person and this app just dosen’t match that. The icon looks nice, but I don’t think it’s reflected throughout the app. Looks aren’t everything though. Something I feel that this app is missing is keyboard shortcuts. I like being able to use keyboard shortcuts and them speed things along. Sometimes, the delete key can be used to delete emails, but it depends on which view you’re in. I would like keyboard shortcuts to forward, reply and send messages. Maybe they’re hidden in there somewhere, but if so I haven’t found them yet. I used this app for an extended period of time and moved on when I found something better. I recently came back to it to give it another go after the updates, but I still found that it doesn’t quite work out for me. Needless to say, I deleted the app from my computer. I’m on to something new.

The OS X mail client you must have

The best OS X mail client yet. Clean and very well thought UI. The UX is just great. The application is fast even with fairly large mail boxes. Very stable, no crashes at all on my daily usage (I’m an IT professional). I’ve tried and hated all the Sparrow « successors », but this one is a keeper. Good job guys.

Come on Unibox!

Make it perfect and let us hide the dock icon! Why would you put the option to pin a menubar icon if we can’t hide the dock icon? Also we should be able to set a shortcut to open Unibox instead of clicking the dock/menubar. And finally we should be able to delete mails with the “delete” key instead of right-clicking each mails.

It just works!

I’ve recently updated my OSX to Yosemite and Apple Mail just stopped working. I tried Airmail and other clients. They didn’t work either. Then I decided to try Unibox and it worked just fine. Synchronization with Gmail IMAP worked beautifully for several accounts including business ones. Its contact centric interface also made me realize how much clutter email I used to keep there. When you select a contact and just see those old meaningless messages you just want to keep pressing Delete and get rid of them. It was an additional benefit I wasn’t expecting. Nice product!

Saving my time

Unibox is a really different email browser that saves A LOT of my time. Very efficient and dynamic.

Very Helpful

With only two days using Unibox, I am feeling how helpful it is being for me to keep my emals very well organised with prompt answers to my searches. I recommend Unibox strongly !

Found it!

I’ve been looking for quite some time for a good mail app. And now I can finally say I found it!

Labels

Labels would be a great and helpful thing

Best E-Mail App ever!

A friend of mine turned me on to this App and I’m glad he did! Never thought an E-Mail App could be so much fun! Works great! Also I have lots sub folders and Unibox set everything up just right. So far no problems! Keep up the good work! Gary

OMG I love this!!

No more searching through millions of messages for important emails in my inbox! Just bought this for my whole team at work :) Can’t wait for updates.

Interesting approach to email

I’m still transitioning so i keep Sparrow open at the same time but must say that I’m drawn to this app and the approach. I like the fact that it’s people centric vs. subject. Search works well and the grouping of attachments by person really comes in handy. Looking forward to seeing where this app goes and how it influences how we do email.

OK app but need improvement

I found that Unibox does not show the message that you sent in the dialog box…….which is annoying. Only when someone reply that email, it will show the whole conversation. It also do not show the email in that person if he/she is cced the email. Lack of fexibilities….. need more improvement

Much better

Much better! Lower memory consumption. Would be nice to be able to turn the spelling on/off. One defect: The cursor is sometimes gets stuck (the fenomenon where you have a cursor in one location, and yet being able to move it in another, like non-refreshed artifact) Great job guys, please keep going!

Optimized Mailbox

Amazing product. Love the interface! All the tools seem to be so handy. Best thing I found is the optimized thread management and contact information. More importantly, the support is quick and fast. I was using Outlook before and it used to slow my computer down. Replaced it with Unibox, amazing performance and well organized and simpler to use. It’d be definitely nicer to have the spell check too, other than that A++++.

great

Love the concept and overall organization of this app. Allows me to not use folders in my mailbox but still feel like things are organized, and centring it around contacts is very nice. However, despite the overall slick feel of the app, certain things are distincly un-polished. Problems: 1. currently no support for an IMAP drafts folders (as far as I can see), so these are not saved to the server or accessed when created by other programs. This is a big issue when IMAP is the main interface the app uses 2. no easy ability to distinguish which e-mail account a particular message came to, if you have more than one account. perhaps the messages could have a different color by account, or have a tag in the corner indicating this 3. right now I can’t tell if a message is sent to just me or more than one person without clicking to display all recipients. In fact, it would be nice to display all the recipients by default, but in a more compact and less obtrusive way than they currently appear when I click to display them. Keep up the good work!

A fresh approach to email

I love the fact that this is people centric.

Great App

I had to switch to a new mail client from Apple’s default mail app because it wouldn’t allow me to send emails from the same account across multiple devices. Unibox has been working great since I made the switch. It looks very minimal and clean. I do love the fact that it is people centric othan than subject centric. It makes is super easy to keep track of emails from the same person. I do have a few suggestions that I would like to see in the future versions - Give the options to compile emails that are sent to multiple receivers in one thread. Right now when you send an email to multiple people, it would show up as if you have sent the email individually to each person - Make it easier to change fonts, add bullet points, bold text etc. Currently you have to click on the edit tab in order to select these options - Sync contacts’ avatars with their social media accounts Keep up the good work! And I will definitely recommend this app to my friends and coworkers

Great App , Great Support

This is bar none my favorite Mail app for OSX to date, superior to Postbox and Airmail by far. The only reservation I have is the price, I wish it was closer to the prices of Airmail or Postbox, but all in all a great app Next up is a iOS verison please!!

The best

Please bring ios version too. Also would be great to have evernote seamless integration
